Time for Sashing

I visited my LQS yesterday- yes, I could not resist not to!, and got some fabrics for this projects. I needed some light ones for the background and something for the sashing.

I remember they have the Fat 8th rolls and found this one all from Jo Morton's line.

Untill just recently, I was not sure if I would like the Fat 8th bundles as it is just a long narrow strips, not like the FQs. I've been wondering who actually likes such thing? But as I've gotten into the scrappy world, now I know it comes very handy and appreciate for the variety of the fabrics so much with the price of just slightly higher than a yard of the fabric! Yes, with that price, I get 8 different kinds :))) I feel very fortunate with this many fabrics. Eight in one! LOL

I grabbed the book which has my project and show to the sisters who owns the shop and asked their suggestions for the sashing. They are always very nice and helpful, yet they do have such good eyes for the colors.
Then Dee brought a bolt of this black and white gingham check (It maybe very dark chocolate brown x white?)from the back room. It's also from the Jo's line and she laid out to see if it works with my baskets. Carrie from Miss Rosie's Quilt Co. whom I often see at the shop also joined the show.

BTW, Carrie was shopping for some fabrics for her new project with the Jo's fabrics. She told me that she really liked the quilt which was on the display at the shop where she recently visited while she was traveling. ...It's another happy and fun time ;)

Anyhow, I really like the sashing fabric we have pick. It looks almost like the one in the book with a different color. Now I have four more baskets which include some blacks on their way. It's getting really close....

  2. HAHAHAHA! Carrie was in Calgary! She was just here last week (ish) speaking for Freckles Quilt Shop. Too funny! I had other plans that weekend, but my really good friend Shuna ("Shoo-nah") had a long chat with her.
