The very first pattern of "American Schoolgirl Club"
has just arrived yesterday.
Very exciting thing for sure!
Then all of the sudden,
my mood has gone into Kathleen Tracey's world,
with doll quilts, reproduction fabrics and such.
I pulled out one of her books called "Remembering Adelia",
along with other books
and found something I have been thinking about
making one for myself.
Since I saw this lovely post about a week ago,
I really wanted to have one!
Ta-dah!!
I made one last night with my favorite fabric line,
"InkWell Prints" by Judie Rothermel.
I just love her fabric,
I mean anything comes from her line
will give me a big smile :)))

I bought this Fat 8th bundle at a wonderful shop called
"Quilter's Coop" in Temecula, CA last year,
and have tempted to use them for my project since then.
But I could not just cut any
till find a good project to go with...
So what I had to do is when I visited my LQS the other day,
to get some more of FQs of the same fabrics
just to play with!
How shilly it could be!?
I really enjoy seeing the bundle laying on my sewing table
the way it is...
Then I made some binding clips with
the fabric covered buttons from the left over scraps
of the Housewife.
They are for the bindings or
keeping your linen to roll up while stitching.
Something handy to have, not for your hair!
Anyhow, this Housewife was very fun to make.
The instructions in the book is pretty much straihgt forward.
I usually make some little changes
here and there from the original,
but I was good with this one, no changes at all.
BTW, some says "Housewife" while the others say "Huswif".
I don't know the difference, but this particular one is
named as Housewife.
Xoxo,
Wow this looks like an exciting project! I'll be back to see more!! Love all your hexies too!! Thank you for visiting my hexie post!!
ReplyDeleteHi Merumo, you madea lovely purse with your favorite fabrics and the book you just received seems to me really interesting : enjoy reading it :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a great day,
bisous
Isabelle
Everytime I go to the haberdashery at Liberty, I think of you. They also have an amazing alley of fabrics for quilting.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know those clips are called HOUSE WIFE!
I thought they were for hair. Your house wife looks very pretty (^-^)
OK - the deal with the Housewife/Huswif... As we know a housewife is a lady who stays home to tend the house and children/ She is inventive, industrious, and imaginative and never without her handy tools to come to the rescue whenever it's needed. Huswif is the word used in the German/Amish language for this exact same thing. So, cleverly the little sewing pouch full of handy tools was nicknamed the Housewife/Huswif since it is the housewife's housewife. :o)
ReplyDeleteI love your little creation and I have been wanting to make the exact same thing for ages, but have not gotten around to it (or picked the right fabrics). And those barrettes!! How on EARTH did you make those button thingies? I am interested to make some myself for binding projects, but I have no idea how you got that fabric on there!
Heather :o)
