This is the shop where I visited today.
What kind of shop is that?
Doesn't tell too much about what kind business
they are in by their front door, does it?
Yes, it's a quilt shop!
This is the shop where I first visted 8-9 years ago
and bought my BERNINA.
I was advised that I need my own machine
to take their quilt classes.
I had absolutely no idea
what I was up to at that point,
but I knew I wanted to learn how to make a quilt.
It was my very first sewing machine experience
and they pick a perfect machine for me :)
The next day, I was in their beginner's class
- brave thing to do!,
and of course I didn't know what to do
with my brand new toy :O
They've thrown me 5 classes to learn about
my sewing machine,
but they were all scheduled after my first quilt class...
I just knew I was very happy with
my new adventure!
At that time,
this shop was owned by a very famous Redwork designer.
Her name was Laurene Sinema.
I really enjoyed her fabric selections
as well as the classes.
After her departure from this earth,
the ownership of the shop has been moved to someone,
and at the same time,
I lost my major interest in my quilting career.
Then as I came back to this fun area again
in last spring after a long absence,
I haven't visited this shop till today.
Of course, every shop has their personality
as to the fabric selections,
book selections,
classes and a lot more to share with their customers.
I quickly learned this shop has been changed a lot
since I used to visit
and disappointed a little first.
But a good news I found was
they seemed to be still big in Applique!
There are some Applique quilts on their display
and they are stunning!!
I especially noticed
their wool selection is wonderful :)))
Since they don't sell BERNINA at this shop any more,
they've filled that space with
a huge selection of the wool projects.
Although I didn't find any fabric I really like,
I still enjoyed their wool area
and got some back home with me ;)
I enjoyed my first wool project back in last September
and ever since, I can't help myself
staying away from the wooly stuff.
So it was a very nice surprise to see
they have such a good selection of wool!
I've been slowly adding more and more
of wools lately.
Got some in NY, and a kit from
when I found Lea had a posting about the books.
And the last thing I found in this shop was the above.
Have you seen that book?
which contains the shops and shows info
all over in North America!
It'll be a lot of fun to travel across the country
with this handy book!
Off to dinner & something fun on Friday evening.

I see you listen to my podcast! (This is Sandy of "Quilting...for the Rest of Us.") I'm glad to know you're feeling the tug back into quilting. I've done a couple of wool felt projects myself and want to do more--next time I'm in Arizona, I'll have to check out that store! I'm now a follower of your blog--looking forward to reading about your future projects!
It sounds like you spent a wonderful time in that quilting shop .....I love the wool fabrics too: they are suxh a sweet touch !!
ReplyDeleteYour book seems to be really nice for a quilting addict....lol...

I haven't seen that wool book before, but it looks lovely! Your pumpkins are so sweet, I think I may have that pattern too! I also noticed the glass case full of dolls - how coincidental! (hee hee) We made it home safely and are getting ready for another week - here's hoping there is MAIL tomorrow!!
