Do you remember about these Dresden flowers?

"Dresden Plate" by TQC
Fabrics: "Rural Jardin" and
"La Petite Ecole" by FG
Block size: 14" finish
Now all the blocks are pieced together.
I was originally thinking to use
a solid from "Oyster" palette,
but the yardage was sold out at the time
when I was ready to get some at LQS
on past Sunday at our SSQSG meeting.
So I had Ms. K looked at
what else will be a possiblity to go with,
and we came up with "stone" instead.
And I'm very happy with how the way
it looks with the blocks :)))
I added two more blocks in addition to
the original - four blocks, to make
a little larger = another lap size ;)
I top stitched all the way around
the dresden wedge's edges
as well as the center circle.
Speaking of the center circle,
I love this Anna Maria's "Super Circle"
method to make a nice circle
without the needle and thread!
It just worked beautifully!!
I'm getting ready to make a bunch of
HSTs for the borders.
I cut the charm size - 5", scraps from
the leftovers (I can't believe I still have
decent amount of scraps left from all what
I've been making from this line!) last night
and just realized I'll need a lot more than that.
The issue here is as I added two more blocks,
I obviously need to add more HSTs
than what called for the instructions.
I'm thinking to add the inner border strips
to make it work evenly with HSTs.
Ms. Limo: Did she plan well beforehand?
Ovbiously NOT!
Ms. Limo: I'm not sure if she will ever finish
this quilt!?
Ms. Limo: How do you all think?

I'm still behind from replying back to
the comments left on my blog and some of
the emails received lately.
I'll get back with you all as soon as
cleaning up some of the stuff I'm working on :)

It's so pretty! So what if it wasn't well planned? That's where happy randomness comes from. :D I love the fabrics! I've never been that into dresden plates, but i like this one -- the proportions are really nice and I like the pointy ends.
ReplyDeleteThank you for commenting on my blog Merumo.
ReplyDeleteThose Dresden flowers are so lovely. I never realised there were so many different shapes that could make up a quilt, and I am so enjoying finding out :)
I did wonder how you would put it on the background, thanks for showing en telling, it's fabulous:)

ReplyDeleteBTW you have the cutest dog ever!
Again, it looks wonderful!! That background really makes the colors pop. I think Ms Limo is just kidding - she knows you are going to finish this quilt - it is way to pretty not to.
