Susan Rambo's Sampler

I'm ready for Susan!

***** Click "Read more" option
to move forward to the rest. *****

I picked up her fabric and some of the missing threads
I needed to get started Susan Rambo at LNS yesterday.

The above was my fabric choices.
The one at the bottom is called for the chart.

When I went look for the colorway at Wichelt's site,
It says DMC #841 is the closest color.

I ended up choose Vintage Maple Sugar by LL
which you see at far right in the pic.
It has slight red/peachy blended and
figured it will help to show off
the red flowers in Susan :)

Then I came across some color issue
with NPI #491 - vy lt ice blue.
It was a true shocker among everyone else!

I didn't take a pic of that one,
but it stood right out from the rest.
No question.

So my substitution is #561 for that
and that is the only change I made so far
for the called threads.

Oh, one another thing I just found out
about my thread.
Well, I felt lucky to have found
I had about a half of what the chart called for,
then made a "good" list to take to LNS
to buy some others to fill the rest on the list.

I was so happy and ready
after finding everything I needed for her at LNS
untill finding out about what  I really should have
gotten - green thread.

To make a long story short,
I only had that much left in my stash.
According to my not so reliable NPI list,
it sures says I had that one,
but came to find out not enough to get by!

The bad news is that one is one of
the main greens I need A LOT for
the pretty leaves and vines on
 the borders to start with.
Sigh...

While totally excited about Susan,
I have another big girl on the top of my plan
right now - Ann Grant.
But as I haven't gotten the supplies for her,
and of course she won't be available
till Nashville market.

So in the mean time,
I will be diligently stitching Mary and Sarah.

It's such a perfect day to stay at home
to stitch all day.
It's pouring outside and freezing cold...

Enjoy the rest of your day ;)

  2. She is a beauty! I am still waiting on my magazine to arrive - always takes a lot longer to get over here.

I think Glenna - Eye of the Needle - started this sampler as well, and she mentions some color issues. I am sure she will be gorgeous no matter what.

  3. Oh it's a wonderful sampler, if there were only 48 hours in the day LOL. I notice that you buy the linens (which are fabulous) at the Attic, if only we had such a store nearby.)Did see they do not do mail order which is a disappointment.
I have also signed up for Mary Glover, could not resist it because of the deer and birds:)it's cold here too, so a perfect day for stitching Merumo:))
    Have a great week.

  4. Why is it that we keep picking the same projects?! Guess what is sitting right next to me... SANQ with Susan Rambo's sampler! LOL It's a must-stitch for me because I grew up in the same town where Susan did. Plus--I'm a sucker for the reds! I am trying to resist starting her just yet, because I have a few samplers I'd like to finish first.

Nice new stash--what a great haul on those linens!

  5. You are so lucky to still have a LNS. Ours closed several years ago and I have to order most of my supplies online. I even have trouble finding all of the DMC floss I need - UGH!
Where did you find the pattern for the Susan Rambo stitchery? It is going to be beautiful!!

  7. I definitely want to stitch Ms Rambo too! She is so pretty, isn't she? Bummer about the green thread. You're better than me though -- at least you have a list of what fibers you have stashed. Me? Nope! Have to guess! lol! Looking forward to seeing your progress on this one!
