Something I wanted to make...

"Fabric Basket" by Ayumi
You may have seen this cute basket
all over blogland since some time.
I've had the itch to make one since
I first saw this a couple of years ago,
and now it's here!!

Her step by step tute
was really nice and clear
with a lot of pictures.

Now I understand why people get
addicted making this basket
as it's really fun to make
besides it's very practical.
I won't be surprised to see myself
making more of this basket.

I choosed to make a larger version
for myself.
It's about 6 1/2" high and 11 1/2" wide.
I think it's a pretty good size.

As I have been away from
these kind of fabrics
- not reproduction, Civil war kinds,
for the longest time now,
it was really refreshing and
good thing to say hello to them ;)

My quilty friend Ms. K asked
what are you going to use this for?
I just knew I want to make one
to see if I can actually make a thing
 like this.
How silly!!

Now as Ms. K's kind suggestion,
I put my WIP stitching project.
And surprisingly it's a red sampler.

"Fiesta! Nicola Sabieal -1818 A Mexican Sampler"
by Samplers Remembered
Fabric: New Castle, Cream 40ct
Fiber: NPI #504
Finish size" 20" sq

I found her last back in last May
You can find the original reproduction one

It looks like
I've started stitching this piece
back in July of 2008.

I do remember on that day at
our Sampler Sunday meeting,
I sat by Linda who is the designer of
this lovely sampler and
 fell in love with it.

Then I told her it will be on
my five years project list.
And she said no way!
You can do this faster than that.

It will mark the 4th year
in this summer..
I'm getting there for sure.

  1. Beautiful basket and sampler, Merumo! Since a few days I'm back to cross stitching after....six years ( yes ) without a simple cross stich ! and I really enjoy stitching old UFOs I found in my basket after all these years. Old quilts and old samplers, so many beauties...!

  3. Thanks for the link to the bag T and for showing us your bag. They could also be used for gifts and as a take along hand piecing or hand applique bag. I think I mighty try making one.
