When you ran out of something
you really need at the moment,
what would you do?
Did you know it's National Coffee Day today?
I got a new bag of special blend
from Starbucks yesterday
and enjoyed a cup to start my day.
And joined Yoga class as my Saturday routine.
Then prepped for quilter's kind of dinner
for tonight - Slow Cooker Lasagna!
I referred to this recipe found at
Pinterest some time ago.
All I will have to do is add additional
shredded Mozzarella cheese on the top
right before it's done.
I'm all set to have fun for today!
"12 Days of Christmas"
by Cheri Payne
My answer to the question
at the beginning of this post is
"Move to the next!".
(I ran out of some threads I will
need to continue with my wool
project. How sad!)
Now I've been busy with prepping
the applique pieces to make
another one of Cheri's quilt
since last night.
I'm not really confident with applique
at all, in a fact, I almost have a fear
to practice applique :O
"Feathered Friends" by Lori Smith
Monthly Mini @TQC
The above is my last applique I finished
3 years ago and now sitting in
the guest bedroom.
I don't think I've finished any
since this one?
But for this extraordinary wonderful
opportunity, who can put that fun aside
any more?
So I got started my applique practice
adventure now :D
And you will see the reason why...
*****
I was offered something very special last week
by someone I have admired as a queen of
applique quilt ever since I've found her lovely
blog where filled with all kinds of fabulous quilts
she made.
And a couple of days ago,
I received an envelope from her
which was nearly overflow with
lovely applique motives for this quilt.
What a wonderful surprise!!
She sent me to the moon for sure :D
*** Picture borrowed form Cheri's website.
Anyhow, to make a long story to short,
I have an extra set to make this quilt
to share with someone who would be
interested in making your own :)
So I'm throwing a giveaway for this extra set
in honor of Karen :)
This is what the winner will receive.
All the applique pieces needed to make
"12 Days of Christmas" quilt.
Can you believe that all the hard work
has been done by someone else already :O
The size of this quilt will be
38" x 45".
You will still need the background and
border fabrics to finish a quilt top.
To give you an idea,
when you finish yours,
here is how it will look like.
I think the fabrics of each piece you see
in the below picture are the same as
what I got from her.
*** Picture borrowed from Karen's blog.
They are prepped for needle turn applique
with freezer paper templates.
I'm following the starch prep method
before getting started on needle turn.
Wendy has a great step by step tutorial
with good close-up pictures on her blog.
If you are interested in this lovely set,
please leave a comment at this post.
Anyone is welcome to enter :)
And don't forget to leave your
contact info if your blogger profile
is "disable" to show in public
or you aren't a blogger.
That's the rule ;)
I will pick one lucky winner
in late afternoon of tomorrow,
the last Sunday of September.
(I'm in Arizona time zone.)
This is a quick giveaway,
so don't miss a chance if you are interested in!
Ms. Limo: You've learnt the important tip
to win from the last giveaway, right?
Feed me with the most yummy treat
to impress me is the key ;)
Good luck to you all :)))
And big thank you to Karen
for this wonderful opportunity!!
Phew,
I am almost getting out of breath
writing this many things came across
in my mind today....
PS: Are you in for Cheri's SAL
starting from this Monday?

I love it and i would like to do it with half of the work done!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks
I am very nervous about applique too. I love applique quilts but I am always reluctant to try. I love the 12 days quilt and would definetly try it if the prep was all done!
ReplyDeleteI would love to win this, I have always wanted to make one. Our family gets together every Christmas and we sing this song, it is a lot of fun, even if some moan and groan about it. I love your work it is beautiful! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeletewow what a great giveaway! and personally i feel you have nothing to fear in the applique department, first you're working on one of my "primitive" designs, second by the looks of your last project, it's going to be way too pretty!!! now i refuse to do the freezer paper method, way to fussy for me but i would someday like to sit down and learn, practice and i'm sure do it primitively needle turn, until that day i'll stick to wools...... always enjoy seeing all your talents
ReplyDeleteYour applique looks great to me! Looks like you'll be plenty busy w/all those flying geese! Can't wait to see them!
ReplyDeleteHugs to Ms. Limo,
Tanya
Your Lori Smith applique is beautiful! I think you do very good work. How I would love to be the lucky one to win the applique pieces. This is such an awesome giveaway.
ReplyDeleteYour work is beautiful. You will have no trouble with applique. I would love to win the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI could use a helping of that Lasagna. LOL. I just learned of Lori Smith quilts on Karen's blog and your displayed piece in the frames looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy applique work and would love to win the already started/ prepareded pieces. You are so generous to prep them.
Please consider me in your giveaway.
Jackie

I'm sure you can manage appliques, you've maden gorgeous piece before!! I LOVE IT so much, how beautiful is that!
You don't need to worry, you can do it!
And looks yummy Lasagna you cooked!
Ms. Limo is so cute as always!
Wat a fun quilt with all the different Christmas motifs - I'd love to win your giveaway - I'll bet I could get it made by December since so much of the work is already done!
ReplyDeleteLovely giveaway, but I'm with Yuko... I have very little experience with applique, and it wouldn't be fair to throw my name in to win such a great project when I know someone else would be so much more deserving! (Just being honest!) I think when I'm ready to learn applique it would be best to start with something smaller. Just wanted to say the applique in your guest room is awesome... I'm not sure what you are worried about... it looks perfect! Love the projects you share in your blog. 79 flying geese??? You're going to be busy!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great giveaway, especially with lots of the work already done! Love your Lori Smith picture! I have been working on another project today, but hopefully tomorrow I will have time to get started on the flying geese. Thanks for the chance to win the applique pieces.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful and generous giveaway. Would be thrilled to win!
ReplyDeleteI've loved this quilt ever since I saw Lori from Humble Quilts make it......it's so lovely! Thanks for the opportunity! And now I'm headed over to Cheri's to check out her SAL.....hmmmmmm, can I really commit!?! :o)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the lovely giveaway. I hope to win. Thanks for the chance :)
ReplyDeleteYou'll do great with your applique. I was scared for a long time before I discovered the starch method. It's easy pleasy. I would love to have my name entered to win.
ReplyDeleteこんにちは。本当にワクワクするようなかわいいアップリケ!
ReplyDelete私も作ってみたくなりました!!
merumoさんの成功をお祈りいたします!(^_-)-☆
Wow-wow-wow, what a give-away! I have a few of Cheri's patterns and love them. I have been using the "super thin interfacing applique method" where you cut out the fabric and interfacing, sew on the line, snip the curves, cut out the middle, and turn it, as if it were a doll ready to be stuff. It works best for my cotton applique projects. BUT, I would like to try the freezer paper method. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteI love this giveaway. I am a huge fan of anything Cheri designs. Thanks for a chance to win.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love this quilt and would love to be entered. I'm just learning the ins and outs of applique and I'm enjoying it so much!
ReplyDeleteI fell in love when I saw this! I love the placing of all the pieces. Just so happy looking, like they are dancing! It's just charming and how very wonderful it is that the hard part has been done! An absolutely lovely giveaway!
ReplyDeleteCathy ♥
Thank you for such a generous giveaway! I love all things applique and Christmas which pretty much covers it all. Ms. Limo is so cute. No wonder she gets treats.....how can you resist that face!!
ReplyDeleteYour work is beautiful. Would love to win this just my style and to think half the work done - wow. Thanks for the giveaway option.
ReplyDeleteI would love to get back into applique. What a wonderful way to start! Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeletePatti L.
Oh, I would love to win these! It's so folksy! Thanks so much for the chance. :-)
ReplyDeleteBefore my slow cooker went kaput I did lasagna in there and tamale pie and all kinds of yummy things. Huggles to you and cuddles to Ms. Limo!
ReplyDeleteA wonderful giveaway! No need to count me in. I have never done this and am not sure I would be up to the task! Give Limo a pat from me and a doggie hello from Panzer!
