Uneven beauty block.
Ms. Limo: What's that all about?
At the very end of today's instruction said,
"You cut the block down to 5 & 1/2" unevenly
a little of this side, a little of more off that side"
and you're done."
I got to love that, right?
You would think that's an easy thing to do,
but I had a hard time to trim my block
off unevenly to make it to the size
I'm supposed to get.
But you see my effort of
uneven trimming in my block!
These are all I got so far and
tomorrow will be the last day of this fun.
Yellow: from "Reflections of an Era Past"
@Marcus Brothers Fabrics
Oh, as someone asked about the yellows
I'm using in my blocks.
That line was one of my most favorite lines
at that time - 2 years ago or so?,
and the irony is this yellow was left out
from my work as I really didn't know
what to do with it.
But now here I go!
Yellow: "Civil War Ladies" by Pat L. Nickols
@RJR Fabrics
I believe this was from that line,
but not 100% for sure as it came with
a part of the FQ's bundle I won at
TQC's giveaway a couple of summers ago.
I got that line's name from some of the FQs
which still had the salvage edge with
the print of that line's name.
I'm getting very impatient
to see how it will be put together
at the end.
Ms. Limo: What's for dinner?

This is fun to watch! That's rather bizarre about having to cut the block down to size unevenly. Hmmmm. I'm quite curious to see how it all comes together too! Cute Ms Limo!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Margaret, this is fun to watch. I have never used yellow reproductions but your blocks are looking brilliant! I love Ms. Limo! She is just gorgeous, come on Mum, where is dinner? Have a great weekend, Kind regards, Ann
ReplyDeleteIt is fun watching the quilt blocks come together. I don't understand why you have the cut the blocks down unevenly... but soon all will be revealed.
ReplyDeleteunevenly beautiful....
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun project to make. Beautiful colours, I am excited to see how it will look in the end:o)
ReplyDeleteYou give me a great idea whit this simple blocks, I did,nt know that it was a sal whit Chery, how many days is this sal?
ReplyDeleteI'd have problems with cutting something unevenly as well--everything in me would scream out to make it symmetrical! I've done some whonky blocks in my time, but it goes a little against my nature. I prefer to go all-out art quilt than the "almost-but-not-quite-symmetry" of whonky blocks, LOL. As always, love your colors and love your photography! Give Ms. Limo a pat for me!
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize this was a sewalong. Fun!
ReplyDeleteLove the photo of Ms. Limo.
I would also have a very hard time cutting something unevenly. I am really enjoying watching your progress on this quilt and THANK YOU for the info on the 2 yellow fabrics you used.
ReplyDeleteI like this colour combination more and more, the fabric with the blue background and red flowers is so pretty and am really looking forward to seeing it all put together.
ReplyDeleteI hope Ms. Limo enjoyed dinner:)
I am not usually a yellow person...but I really like this.
ReplyDeleteI think that is a little bit weird to cut them unevenly, but I am anxious to see how this works.
I don't think Ms. Limo is very interested in this project. She looks bored. I will have to post a photo of my little Shadow on my blog. She is a black and tan mini dachshund.
Oh I don't like that, cutting uneven, wouldn't be trusted with that lol. I agree with ms Limo!
ReplyDeleteI am curious now Merumo, will be a lovely spring quilt:)
So have you made her dinner yet??
Have a lovely day:)
