Labels Fun!

Look look!
My first printed quilt label :)

QAL @TQC
Size: 3 1/2" unfinished

Thank you Sheryl for hosting
this wonderful QAL!
I had so much fun everyday
in the past 12 days with everyone :)))

As finishing up this charming quilt last night,
I was wondering if I want to try making
my own quilt labels with the ink jet printer?

Hot off the printer!!

There seems to be a lot of websites like
here you can refer to how to make them.

Basically all you need to do is
 make your own design using
"Word" or something in your computer
(I used free graphic arts from the internet.),
then prepare the muslin ironed with
a letter size freezer paper.
Now you are ready to print out your
own labels through your printer!

I'm not sure if the ink will bleed or not
if the quilt is washed,
but just let's hope not!

Hoping to attach the binding strip
later today or tomorrow to finish it :D

And ass you may notice,
I'm not going to use the blue fabric like
Sheryl used for hers from the kit.
Instead, I'm using "red" of course!!

And another quilty fun
I'm planning for this year is to make
those cute house block - 3" finished,
with 1300+ quilters over the blogland.

hosted by Jeanneke.

I think I will make one or two blocks
each month in reds x tans to make mine
as a Christmas house mini at the end.
I may throw some greens to make it
looks even more Christmassy?
We never know!

As for how to make
those tiny houses,
I will use the paper piecing method.
I'm not a paper piecing kind of girl,
but thought it will be a good practice
for me to get used to eventually.

More and more Christmassy fun follows...

  3. Merumo, there is a product you can buy called Bubble Jet Set 2000 (I hope you can still buy it...) and it is a liquid that you soak your muslin in before attaching it to freezer paper for the printer. It prevents the ink from running when the quilt possibly is washed. I have used it for years, adding photos, clip art, etc. to my printed quilt labels.

  4. What a great idea with the label. Do you use freezer paper + muslin? Is that a safe method for the printer??
And where did you get the foundation pattern for the mini house in paper piecing method?
    Thanks!
And your 12 days is beautiful. I still lack 4 blocks.

Thanks for sharing how to make these, I'm a little dim when it comes to making these. Let's hope indeed the ink doesn't run, would be a disaster!!
