The Fall issues are coming into my mailbox lately,
but the desert heat's season still not over yet.
"Autumn Wools"
by Cheri Payne @Quilts by Cheri
Primitive Quilts and Projects/Fall 2011
I've been busy with studying (really?)
and playing of course, and here is
my first autumn project of this year
just finished today.
It was so much fun making
this little quilt with wool applique.
I enjoyed every process of it!!
I asked my quilty friend Ms. K and
tweeted to see if I should proceed
with coffee/tea dyeing process
to give a primitive look to it
as suggested in the pattern.
And guess what people said?
No!
So I better listen to my friends
for that ;)
BTW, you don't know what else I'm in trouble with.
What can I do with a ball of yarn and needles?
Knitting!
Well, I decided not to go towards to that area
last year and it was pretty tough.
I was really busy with enjoying making
all kinds of small quilts last year,
it was ok for me not to think about.
But as seeing my LYS's newsletter filled with
some yummy looking classes offered coming in,
it was getting really hard to resist to sign up.
Then I did sign up for one of the classes
starting from the next week :O
"Mara Shawl" by Amy
Yarn: Tosh Worsted by Madelinetosh
Needles: #6 US circ ndls
As I haven't even touched the yarn
since this UFO project being left
about a year and a half ago,
I pulled it out from the basket
and picked up the stitches to
refresh my skill before the class begin.
And magically, I still seemed to remember
how to knit and purl fairly well! lol
Ms. Limo: Can you believe that?
Is mommy really going back to knitting now?
It's still 110F outside everyday here!!
And this will be another quilt I'd like to
get started on during the summer.
It's a big quilt (for me anyway.),
and a bit Christmassy as
the red & green fabrics stand out.
I'll have to finish my other WIPs
before this one though...
That's about it from me for now.
Enjoy the rest of your summer.
xoxo,

I can't believe you made that quilt so fast! Didn't that issue just come out? I don't have it -- I keep debating about subscribing to that magazine. Love the knitting project -- good to pick it up again to ready yourself for the knitting class. I think I'll work on getting back into quilting, and then maybe eventually I'll follow you some more and get back into knitting. lol!

I've been thinking about fall lately. I was looking at the same pattern a couple days ago. And look you've finished it, I love your little fall quilt.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean! But it's time to decorate for fall.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean,... it's hard to get into fall when it's still 98 degrees outside.
