Getting there

I added the borders to the runner.
I may say it's an extended size placemat?

I was originally thinking about
putting just a strip of border,
rather than either pieced or
adding the corner stones.

Then I saw this one,
and I kind of liked it that way, too.

And as I was shopping the border fabric
at my LQS yesterday,
Dee suggested to add the cornerstones
with the hourglass blocks.
I thought that is a farbulous idea!!

But the sad thing was
I only purchased enough fabric to
make just simple strip borders
which are 3" wide, not with the cornerstones
with the hourglass bloks
which are 4" finish blocks...

I could have gone with the 3" cornerstone
blocks, which are a little smaller than
the rest?

Anyhow, my mind got all excited about
such a great idea and didn't quite
think further about the changes need to be make
of how much fabric I really needed.
It was totally at my fault.

Ughhhhhhhh!!!!!

I could have just used
simple strips as the borders all way down,
but now my mind got caught by
more creativities with some
touch of personality.

So what I came up with was
to piece some other fabric
at the end of each border.
Than again, the fabric I liked to use
was from the Fat 8th bundle...
Yes, again, my favorite Fat 8th bundle.
It didn't really go far enough.
Can you tell that? lol

That's how the way I had to add
the red stripes like that in the pictures.

So that's the story behind this runner
and I need to keep going to
finish this so that I can use it for
our dinner tonight!

Now, all I need is someone
who can cook our dinner for tonight
 while I finish making this.

Is that a fair deal?
Any volunteer for that??

  1. I think your solution is wonderful. Dinner?? I'm making chicken biscuit pie from scratch, but I don't think there is enough for 5. Why 5? My son is coming. There isn't enough for even 2--he eats for 3! Truly, I love it. It is the use of that stripe again!

  3. Beautiful Merumo, the colours are so gorgeous together. Unfortunately I will not be able to add to your predicament on the border because I am useless at patchwork, only squares for me LOL.
