Confession Time

On beautiful Friday afternoon, where did I travel to?

This is my LQS called The Olde World quilt shoppe. It was our last meeting of Jo Morton's Little Women's Club #8.

Everyone seems to be ready for the meeting. Shall we begin from Show & Tell?

She brought her WIP - her center block piece of "Holiday Inn".

The funniest thing about this meeting was every single club member had to share some sort of the excuses she finds about her quilt. While some said, oh, I had some medical issues, another one stated I took the Flying Geese's row out as I don't want a huge quilt hanging on my wall! We sure all enjoyed this confession time.

Wow, what an eye candy! It's quilted and binded!! This one was our last month's project called "Meg's Baskets".

She said by the time when she finally finished this one was 2:30 am of this day! Does it sound familiar to you? It sure does to me!

As this club member missed our last months' meeting, she made this lovely waist side bag(Sorry, I don't quite remember the name of it.) which was used by the Colonial women to keep their tools around the house. What she used as the Applique motives are all from "Holiday Inn" quilt. What a neat idea, isn't it?

As she and I belong to another private quilt group, I've seen this one as WIP and really liked the fabrics she picked. She also said she has just barely finished this one half an hour before this meeting as she flew back from Chicago the night before...

She also brought "Holiday Inn", which was quilted by some locally famous machine quilter. I also took the advantage of taking her machine quilting class last summer, but haven't practiced much since then. I wonder why? Confession, confession...

You see a big smile on her face! That's always a good sign, isn't it?

The black borders worked really nice with hers.

Although she didn't add the Flying Geese row on hers, she made them anyway and used for a different project. We just don't know what people come up with...

As she also missed our last month's meeting, she brought her "Holiday Inn".

And her "Meg's Baskets".

And her quilt has been also quilte and binded!

I'm not sure if you can see in this picture, but this is the back side of her quilt. She pieced with the Flying Geeses! I liked that idea a lot :)

Then after such a fun time, the instruction of this month's project followed. It's a little star quilt.

She showed us how to do this particular fussy cuts in her way.

This is the template she made for the star. Wow, someone is really smart and creative! I'll copy this idea as I hppened to have this ruler. Guess who showed me to use this handy dandy little ruler way back?

It looks like this pattern is pretty much straight forward.

Then she also shared her way of to end the binding. There are quite a few ways to do this and of course everyone has her favorite way to do, but I find it's always nice to see how everyone else does it.

We all enjoyed the club with Sue and hope to see all again in fall!

  2. There are so many variations (& confessions)!
Do you think a quilt represents its creater's personality?
Quilt making reminds me the exercise I had to do when I was studying graphic design. The exercise is called "colour layout" (色彩構成).
When you plan your project, do you decide the colour first? Or the pattern?
